In a professional career, various opportunities are available to you. You’re open to a new challenge and want to be sure you’re making the right choice. Discover the five major areas of fulfillment that former employees have reinvigorated by becoming entrepreneurs.

1. Professional development

The first reason that entrepreneurship brings to mind is, of course, the  freedom to be independent . Hardly perceivable at first glance, this freedom often hides the great  learning capacity that it grants  to people.. Working for yourself means meeting inspiring people with whom you can collaborate and learn from. Surrounding yourself with good peers and mentors is crucial for  not isolating yourself and succeeding in your venture . In addition, you are the only one that can decide on the  training that will be beneficial to the skills  and development  of your business. You can take the time to attend conferences, events, workshops , etc. All these are the possibilities that entrepreneurship offers you.

2. Values

It is common for employees to embark on an entrepreneurial adventure because they no longer agree  with the values held  by the company they worked for. Indeed, the key principles that shape your DNA must be reflected in your company’s image. This also establishes  the search for meaning in your work , and arouses the curiosity of a strong professional network.

3. Success criteria

The likelihood is high that  your current managers’ success criteria  are business- and profit-oriented. But what about you? What is YOUR success criteria ? Success can translate into different ways: balancing work and personal life, the completion of a strategic project, contributing to revitalising your neighborhood, city, or region, the integration of an employee, etc. The elements on which companies rely to offer any kind of reward are not fundamentally the same as yours.  Being an independent entrepreneur  will allow you to be recognised according to what  YOU consider important  and fair.

4. Creative ability

You have probably already had an idea for an improvement , a process, a method or a project in mind that never saw the light of day. Most companies that have been growing for several years follow a well-defined strategic line. This is where your creativity can be limited. Indeed, trying to deviate from this strategic line is often considered risky by the Management Committees. Whereas, conversely,  working only for yourself  gives you the ability to  test your ideas  without fear of failure .

5. The work environment

Let’s group together everything related to  “comfort of life at work” . As a  permanent employee , you have  fixed hours  (overall), certain  social benefits  and/or in-kind benefits, your  salary  is paid every month without fail… You  organise yourself  according to the businesses and your colleagues priorities, then you coordinate via meetings.

By choosing to be the manager of your company , you  manage your business  and gain autonomy in your choices, your planning, your management, etc.  Your involvement generates your income , but choosing a  career that follows your passion can greatly increase your happiness.
